Dehiscence is a Toronto-based, multi-media artist whose artworks are visual anthropological explorations of the human experience. Her main subject matter is the human form and her artistic process stems from a desire to transcend the prejudices and stereotypes that are so commonly associated with our external physical traits, to allow the viewer of her art to openly negotiate the emotional and gendered meanings of the human body. Her art encourages discussion around racial, gender, and sexual biases and provides an opportunity for reflection into the importance of humans taking responsibility for their place on Earth.
